"Den kalla vinden och den varma” is Swedish for The cold wind and the warm. That is also the title of a short story written by science fiction writer Ray Bradbury in the late sixties. Science fiction nostalgia (rather than science fiction futurism) is something that can be said to have influenced the Swedish keyboard based instrumental band Mackaper.

The band started as an analog organ duo in the mid 2000, at that time they were backed by no other rhythm section than the cheap drum machines from their old vintage organs. Eventually they added more members and instruments, such as drums and baritone guitar and soon they found their own specific style. Mackaper picks their influences from various sounds and genres such as psychedelia, kraut and children’s TV shows from the past.

Den kalla vinden och den varma is taken from Mackapers third album Minnen av framtiden (Memories from the future) from 2016 and sounds a bit like a soundtrack. Maybe this is what a Sergio Leone western would sound like if it was set in the Scandinavian mystic woods instead of a dry desert".
